Confocal Fluorimetry
Confocal fluorimetry is a laser-based fluorescence spectroscopy technique that can rapidly characterize single molecules in a sample volume of only one femtoliter (one billionth of a millionth of a liter). Confocal fluorimetry thus lends itself ideally to extreme miniaturization and ultra-high throughput screening. Just as important, however, it enables two-photon excitation (TPE) spectroscopy. Confocal fluorimetry with TPE is uniquely tolerant to the background fluorescence and particulate interferences often found in “real” industrial applications.
