Mannanase as feed additive
In animal feed, the mannanase renders non-starch polysaccharides more digestible. Such an additive is of particular benefit for increasing the nutritional value of inexpensive feed or animal feed that may otherwise be of low nutritional value.
The efficient use of a mannanase requires a number of essential enzyme properties. Compared to the wild type and commercially available products the optimized DIREVO mannanase shows
- Dramatically improved pepsin resistance in the presence of acid (Figure A)
- Significantly improved Thermostability required in pelleting processes (Figure B)
- Increased activity over the broader range of acidity values expected in the animal stomach
- Increased specific activity
More information are available in the Fact sheet Mannanase for Feed.
The intermediate variant was already successfully tested under industrial pelleting conditions as well as in animal trials.
