Optimized spruce hydrolysis
The figure shows the hydrolysis performance of two cellulase mixtures on 10% (DS) steam pre-treated spruce. The spruce was on the one hand hydrolysed by a standard commercial cellulase product plus additional ß-glucosidase (non limiting amounts) and on the other hand by an optimized cellulase mixture, in which parts of the commercial product were replaced by the CBHII CEL1E. The improvement in sugar release by the optimized mixture corresponds to an improved specific activity of the CBHII CEL 1E of about 250% compared to the wild-type CBHII enzyme.
